Solar Farm Civil & Site Construction
Langston Construction Company builds the civil and structural scope on utility-scale solar farms: site grading, racking foundations, access roads, and equipment pads. The panels, inverters, and electrical are the owner’s EPC. We build the site they sit on.
Solar farm site work we build
Developers and EPCs hire Langston for the heavy civil a solar farm needs: grading hundreds of acres, driving or pouring the racking foundations, and building the roads and pads.
Site grading
We clear and grade the site, sometimes hundreds of acres, to the tolerances the racking needs.
Racking foundations
We drive the piles or pour the foundations the solar racking mounts to, across the whole array.
Access roads & drainage
We build the access roads, turnarounds, and the drainage and stormwater across the site.
Equipment pads
We pour the pads for the inverters, transformers, and equipment the owner installs.
Buildings & O&M
We build the O&M building and equipment shelters on the site.
Perimeter security
We build the security fence, gates, and access control around the solar farm.
Where we stop: the panels, inverters, combiners, and the electrical are the owner’s EPC and electrical contractor. We build the site, the foundations, and the pads they sit on, and we secure it.
Built to the racking and the geotech
Racking foundations are engineered to the soil and the pull-out loads. We build to the geotech report and the racking manufacturer’s drawings, and we document it.

Common questions
What does Langston build on a solar farm?
The civil and site scope: grading, racking foundations, access roads, drainage, equipment pads, and the perimeter security. Not the panels or the electrical.
Does Langston install solar panels or inverters?
No. The panels, inverters, and electrical are the owner’s EPC. We build the site, foundations, and pads they mount to.
What racking foundations does Langston build?
Driven-pile, ground-screw, or poured foundations, built to the geotech report and the racking manufacturer’s system.
Does Langston build the collection substation?
No. The substation electrical is the electrical contractor’s scope. We build the civil pad and the perimeter security around it.
Where does Langston build?
From our South Carolina headquarters, for developers, utilities, EPCs, and integrators.
