This project involved a comprehensive refurbishment of an existing conventional wastewater treatment pond, construction of a new below grade equipment pit, and upgrades to associated process systems to improve capacity, reliability, and environmental compliance.
- Installed erosion-control measures and cleared/grubbed ~1 acre
- Placed more than 6,050 LF of new HDPE process piping (4"-16") encased in flowable fill and 111 LF of storm-drain piping (15" & 24")
- Excavated a 52 ft x 46 ft x 23 ft equipment pit; poured 612 CY of 3-ft-thick cast-in-place concrete walls with pipe penetrations through the walls
- Decommissioned and filled the existing equipment pit and retired rerouted piping with flowable fill
- Removed asphalt for pipe installation and restored with new pavement
- Demolished one of two existing final hold up ponds; enlarged and installed 40,000 SF geomembrane liner with leak-detection system, new stairs, and level-indication pole for the new final hold-up pond
- Added stainless-steel pipe, valves, fittings, hangers, one inline centrifugal pump, and three foundation-mounted centrifugal pumps in the new pit
- Installed 126 LF of 30"-wide x 36"-deep HS-20-rated precast concrete cable trench with integrated french drain system
- Installed 226 LF of galvanized chain-link fence around the equipment pit area and 69 LF of guardrail at the existing roadway
