Langston completed a slope mediation project in Asheville that was comprised of 4,000 CY of slope stabilization. The goal was to grade to achieve a stabilized hillside with a 1/1 slope to prevent future soil erosion. This was achieved by installing geogrid and geocell fabric in lifts along the slope. Project included:

  • Checking dam in the existing roadside ditch and install a temporary 18" RCP culvert and rock apron.
  • Grading to install 2 temporary access roads to access project site
  • Clearing and grubbing existing trees and shrubs, maintaining 25' of required setback from overhead high-voltage transmission lines
  • Stripping topsoil from site and begin excavation and slope preparation
  • Installing temporary impervious dike adjacent to the creek bank
  • Maintaining site erosion control by installing silt fence with wattle breaks and a turbidity curtain to prevent silt from entering the stream at the base of the hill, which is a protected Trout Watershed
  • Installing riprap buttress at bottom of slope and a live stake buffer area along Hominey Creek
  • Installing a variety of tree and shrub species including yellow birch, white oak, rosebay rhododendron, silky dogwood, and black willow
