Our Annual Safety Breakfast turned into a celebration this year. Why?? Because we just hit a huge milestone —-1MILLION SAFE MAN HOURS! July 2019 was our last recordable incident and we have been racking up safe hours since then. Our Principals, Evan and Jim, enthusiastically proclaimed that we reached that milestone because of the excellent team assembled at Langston Construction. During our time of celebration, there was over $50,000.00 in cash and prizes distributed, including a 55” Smart TV and a Yeti Cooler. We thank White Cap, United Rentals, and Sunbelt Rentals for their donated prizes. We are also grateful to our trade partners, who are too numerous to mention here, for their part in helping us reach this milestone.
Our keynote speaker was Dennis Gillan, Executive director for the Half A Sorrow Foundation. Dennis is on a mission to reverse the current trends in completed suicides and to seriously reduce the stigma associated with getting help for one’s mental health. In the midst of our celebration, we acknowledged the reality that we are in a high-risk industry for suicides and took a look around the room to remind ourselves that we are part of a team looking out for each other. Langston Construction also provides an EAP that covers counseling for all employees at no charge. This is just one of the many ways that Langston management shows its commitment to the overall well-being of its team members.
